Network Subnet Protocols

Static IP Business Internet

Acquire permanent public IPv4 subnet blocks for corporate gateways, whitelisted VPN entry points, on-premises cameras, and internal database hosting.

What is a Static IP Address?

A Static IP is a permanent, unchanging public numerical address assigned to your internet connection by your carrier. Unlike standard Dynamic IPs (which change every time your router restarts or when a lease expires), a Static IP remains constant. This is a technical requirement for secure remote whitelisting, hosting on-premises applications, and operating complex corporate security firewalls.

Primary Technical Use Cases

1. Whitelisted VPNs: Secure remote workers can connect to corporate intranets or secure servers only if their traffic originates from a whitelisted, static corporate IP gateway.

2. CCTV & Security Streams: Accessing high-definition building surveillance systems from external networks requires mapped static routes that never drop or cycle.

3. Local Email & SQL Hosting: Running on-premises Microsoft Exchange mail servers or local SQL databases requires mapped static DNS records pointing to permanent IPs.

Common Subnet Classifications

  • Single Static IP (/30 Block):

Provides 1 usable public IP. Ideal for standard small business VPN gateways or single servers.

  • Block of 5 Usable IPs (/29 Block):

Provides 5 usable public IPs. Ideal for separating firewalls, security cameras, and VOIP phones.
